- Vineyard Consulting
- For those landowners wishing to manage their own vineyards but needing some occasional
extra help, we provide general consulting services. We customize our
assistance to our clients' needs. Contact us with your requirements, and we will
provide a set of services to meet them.
- Vineyard Design
- For those who would like to manage their own vineyards, but who wish to start properly,
those who would like assistance in selecting grape varieties and training methods, or
those unsure of the overall process, we provide vineyard design services. During the
design phase, we will assess your site and make recommendations for the best varieties and
training methods, provide cost estimates for installation and maintenance, and generate
full design specifications for later installation.
- Vineyard Installations
- The next phase of vineyard development is soil preparation and installation of the
grapes and trellis. We use site-specific soil analyses to prepare the site for
planting, sometimes a year or two prior to the installation of vines and trellis.
Our trained landscape installation crews provide all of the equipment, labor, hardware,
and vines necessary for a successful installation.
- Vineyard Maintenance
- After the vines are planted, the real work begins. They must be constantly cared
for, maintained, trained, and generally pampered. When properly maintained, wine
grapes will produce a small crop in their third summer, and nearly a full crop in their
fourth summer. A full crop of premium grapes in our region ranges from 4-8 tons per
acre, enough to produce over 600 gallons of wine! Vines are adolescents at 7 years, and
they reach maturity at 10-15 years. At this point, they reach their maximum
fruitfulness, with mature flavors and complexity. Quality continues to increase
after this time, with crop quantity decreasing slightly. Winegrowing is a long-term
commitment, and we intend to provide appropriate maintenance services throughout the life
of the vines.
- Harvest and Grape Sales
- Finally, the harvest. What to do with all those grapes.....
- There are already over 40 bonded wineries in New Jersey, and most of them are in the
market for premium grapes. More are in the planning stages. New
Jersey is at the beginning of a tremendous surge in winemaking as winemakers and the
general public realize the potential of the region. We will negotiate sales
contracts with the wineries, provide labor and equipment for harvest at the peak of
ripeness, and delivery.
